Love this poem. Your lines

“transient as the hawk’s shadow

skimming over prairie grass”

may inspire a poem for me. I love how a song inspires a poem inspires another poem and so on and on!

Sam ... do I have your permission to use the "transient as the hawk" line of yours above ... because I have written my inspired poem: With Abandon. Will share on my page.

Oh my, Sam. If this were Medium instead of Substack, I'd have highlighted every line. Such a wise, luminous poem!!!!

Beautiful Sam! This poem brings me an image and feeling of unfolding. A confluence. There’s something about the sage of the prairie. A remembering. In the big sky a different presence swallows us whole.
